Berklee's student club, "K-Pop Initiative," teams up with Global Initiatives and the Professional Music Department to present the very first 2021 Virtual K-Pop Summit! The K-Pop Summit introduces K-Pop professionals to students seeking to advance their careers in the music and entertainment industry. This event advances the K-Pop Initiative’s mission to extend “K beyond Korea.”

The summit has three broad goals:
     - Celebrate Korean music
     - Educate the broader community
     - Offer insight (including practical advice)

Bernie Cho

Jae Chong

Songwriter, producer, member of legendary Korean group 'SOLID'

Jae Chong is a leading Asian-American music producer who primarily works as a Mando-Pop and K-Pop writer and producer. He has sold over 70M+ records worldwide and is responsible for creating numerous award-winning hits for artists that have been celebrated at MelOn Music Awards, MNET Asian Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, and more. His credits include Coco Lee, A-mei, Aziatix, JYJ, Solid, and Trouble Maker.

He’s also the main producer and member of the popular South Korean R&B group, ‘SOLID’ and the first Korean-American nominated for the Golden Melody Awards ‘Best Producer of the Year’. Jae Chong has also helped launch MACHI Entertainment, the first hip-hop entertainment company in Taiwan.

Eddie Nam is an entrepreneur focused in talent management and media.

His company, EN Management, is home to artists such as Eric Nam, Epik High, KATIE, includes a roster of Grammy-nominated producers and has provided consulting services for some of the world’s leading record labels such as YG Entertainment, Warner Records, Team Wang, etc.

In 2019, Eddie co-founded DIVE Studios - an audio company focused on positively impacting culture and society. DIVE Studios is home to multiple award-winning podcasts and the mental health/wellness audio application called MINDSET.

Steve Choe

Film editor (including Bong Joon-Ho's Snowpiercer​​​​)

Steve Choe is a film editor for C-47 Post Studio. The award-winning C-47 Post Studio is South Korea's leading one-stop shop solution for digital media services, fulfilling all elements of the post-production process from editing, sound mixing, color grading, and mastering to delivery. Located in central Seoul, the studio works with an international client base ranging from renowned studios to individual filmmakers. He has edited over 60+ films and shows including Snowpiercer, Room No. 7, and Train. He has been nominated for 8 film editing awards including 1 win for Best Editing at the 2013 Grand Bell Awards for Snowpiercer. He is also a film professor at Korean National University of Arts, teaching the great beauty of film editing.

David K. Younghyun

Co-founder of PRAUS; assistant engineer to Tony Maserati

David K. Younghyun is a producer and mixing engineer and alumni of Berklee College of Music studying MP&E and graduating in 2018. He is based in LA and is an assistant engineer to Tony Maserati and has work credits including Twice, JYP, GOT7, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Mary J Blidge, Adam Lambert Lukas Graham, Lido, etc. He is also the co-founder and executive producer of PRAUS Records, located in Seoul, Korea. He has received the bronze award at the 2018 AES Student Mixing Competition.

MJ Choi

Founder of I LOVE DANCE

(Dance Studio Based in New York City)

MJ Choi is the founder of I LOVE DANCE, the biggest K-Pop Dance Studio and Performance Team in the greater New York City Area. Since its founding in 2006, I LOVE DANCE sprouted from its roots in Manhattan, to opening studios in Queens and Fort Lee NJ where more than 600 students collectively come to dance together. MJ’s passion for dance extends into producing dance cover videos, organizing flash mobs, teaching workshops, and promoting active communication with its community on YouTube and other social platforms. MJ has gone to Washington D.C to conduct a K-Pop Workshop for the First Lady of South Korea, performing and teaching workshops at Metropolitan Museum and American Museum of Natural History, and performing at the Madison Square Garden with K-Pop IDOL group (G)I-DLE during KCON NY.
